They’re done! Yay us! After a scary near-miss accident on June 2, we raised a ruckus. At our June 24th meeting before a record 35 residents, Deputy Chief, Dept. of Environmental Services (DES) Hui Wang committed to installing rapid flashing lights at S Arlington Mill Drive at Campbell Avenue. In late July, the work was done. That’s a land-speed record for DES, isn’t it?
Lights only keep people safe if pedestrians press the buttons and wait a moment before stepping off the curb. It’s getting darker out there so please use them!
This project was made possible by the SCA’s years of participation in the Arlington Neighborhood Program (ArNAC) where we eventually qualified for this $500,000 project. The remaining project includes landscaping and lighting near the bridge. For details, see the June 24th, 2026 meeting slides.
